Basic Seven-Card-Stud Poker Rules

Play 7-card Stud Poker now at Party Poker!

The player received two cards facing down and one card facing down. The player with the lowest card exposed pays the ‘bring-in’ which is the base of the betting pot. Once the bring-in has been paid, the rest of the players may place their bets, starting with the player holding the highest-ranking card.
Fourth Street

Every player receives a second up-facing card and again the player with the highest showing poker hand leads the next round of betting.
Fifth Street

The third up-facing card is dealt, again the player with the highest valued poker hand showing begins the round of betting.
Sixth Street

A fourth card is dealt facing-up and the players bet again, beginning with the player holding the highest poker hand visible.
Seventh Street

The seventh and final card is dealt facing down. The last round of betting commences before it is time for the showdown. In the showdown all players turn over their three ‘hole cards’ (the cards facing down) and combine them with their up-facing cards to form the best five-card poker hand possible. The cards which are not used in the five-card hand are disregarded in the scoring of the final hand.
